I've decided the fitness center is some sort of animal magnet for lost puppies and kittens.
Maybe its because the good Lord knows what a sucker I am for them and knows that I will do whatever I can to help them as best I can.
So this evening I pull into the fitness center about 5:50 and thought I saw something go across the parking lot but honestly thought it was probably a raccoon or skunk because I've seen a lot of them ran over lately on that very road. Didn't give it another thought.
I pull in, Patrick and Tara are in the center no one else had arrived at that point and so I pull in turn off the car, get my phone and open my door and HELLO, there is a black cocker spaniel right there at my feet. "Hello there little fella are you lost? Let's take you inside so I can read your little heart tag and see if we can find your Mommy"
I walk in and Patrick is sitting at the front desk, his eyes widened! I'm pretty sure he was thinking "NO WAY WOMAN NO WAY!" So as quick as I could I said, "It has a tag, it has a tag, I'm calling to see if I can find the owner!" He laughed at me.
Tara came over and read off the phone number to me so I could dial it. The puppy's name was Jocko and I called his Mommy. I said,"I think I found your puppy, are you missing a puppy?" She said "OMG you're kidding, your kidding your kidding" I could hear her tears coming over the phone, it made me tear up.
She said he had been missing since this past Sunday, this has ben the 6th day. She said she has talked to every jogger, dog walker, kid , anyone that would listen to her asking if they had seen him, she had put up signs at ever groomer and vet she knew and had just started to give up hope.
So much that she actually had JUST adopted another cocker spaniel from pound just about 5 hours before I called her and had told her Mother that she hoped either Jocko would come how to meet his new brother or that Jesus had a new lap dog.
She came right over. When she walked in and saw him and he walked up to her she just bursted into tears hugging and kissing him, he was ok, dirty, stinky and probably super tired and hungry but he crawled up into his Mommy's lap and you could see the "I'm home" look on his face as he curled up in her lap.
She brought in the other dog that she had just adopted and they met and looked like they were brothers, the other is just brown and named Rudy.
Didn't even ask the lady for her name can you believe that, but I know those puppies names!
She sat and talked with us for a few minutes and then said man I wish there was a groomer open on Saturdays to get him cleaned up. I said I know one! Missy who taks karate at the school and is also our dear friend does grooming out of her home. So we gave her the number and I called Missy and gave her the whole story so she'll know to maybe be expecting a call tomorrow.
Now WHY do I say the school is this magnet. Well because our very own KoKo was abandoned at the fitness center Someone tossed her out of a moving car and just didn't want her anymore. Well she is a happy member and very much loved here with me.
KoKo is the one on the right..Reggie is the killer Chihuahua
Then the VERY next day there were 2 kittens abandoned there.
We called this one Ninja Kitty, Missy found him a home very quickly.

This is Blossom, Missy ended up keeping her and she is happy at Missy's house.

Now this is why I say the school is a magnet....we don't mind though. We love the animals.
I hope and pray if my puppies are ever lost there is someone out there who will help me find them.
Sleep well little guy tonight, knowing you are in the comfort of your home fills my heart tonight.
